Historical Background of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU)

He founded the Scientific Society in 1863 to promote Western knowledge in Indian languages and laid the foundation of MAO College in 1877, which eventually became AMU in 1920.

AMU’s vision has always been inclusive and broad-based, welcoming students from all religions, regions, and communities, making it a truly national university.
