Employees’ State Insurance Corporation was established under the ESI Act of 1948. It is India’s statutory social security body in the aspect of financial protection and benefits in terms of medical facilities. Themain aim behind the formulation of this corporation was to provide social security and health insurance to all the workers of the organized sectors. It includes various aspects, such as covering medical care, sickness, maternity, and death due to any employment-related injury.  Under this scheme, both the employees and employers contribute to the scheme and the funds which are collected are used to provide the cash and medical benefits. ESIC also champions further advancements in social welfare programs to support low-income workers against uncertainties in workplace.
