Assam University is a Central Public University which is located at Silchar, Assam, India, gets its recognition by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited by NAAC. The university was founded in 1994 with the implementation of the provisions enacted by the Parliament of India. It is situated in picturesque hillocks and wide-open landscapes. The university has 42 departments offering diverse courses with undergraduate, postgraduate, M.Phil., and Ph.D. The campus area covers over 600 acres of lush greenery. The university aims to provide and emphasise academic and development as a community. It further provides various facilities which include hostels, libraries, laboratories and so forth. One of the significant features is that the university also runs a Dipu campus to cater to the needs of tribal students. The university runs with a mission to foster inclusive education and research with the continuation of knowledge in the Northeast.
