UKSSSC Junior Assistant & Junior Clerk Syllabus 2026

The Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) for Junior Assistant and Stenographer GR-1/Personal Assistant has a rigourous 140 marks evaluation process divided into 2 parts. Part 1 focuses on General Knowledge and is of 56 marks regarding Uttarakhand specific information and 14 marks to other Indian regions and Union territories. Part 2 is of 70 marks focusing on General Studies including General Hindi, Reasoning, Computer Science, History, Geography, Economics, Political science and current affairs. Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The UKSSSC exam includes a single objective paper with specific weightage assigned to regional and general subjects.

Subject-Wise Detailed Syllabus

The UKSSSC Junior assistant and Stenographer exam is divided into 2 parts. Part 1 focuses on General knowledge specially on Uttarakhand while part 2 includes General studies Subjects.

Uttarakhand General Knowledge (56 marks)

• Geography – location, extent, glaciers, rivers, lakes and natural resources
• History – major dynasties including katyuri, Chand, gorkha and pawar ; British rule era; role of uttarakhand in freedom struggle
• Economy and Resources – traditional water resources, major crops, agricultural problems and small scale cottage industry like wood and copper.
• Culture & society – folk songs, dances, art and Revenue Police System
• Tourism – religious circuits like Chaar Dhaam Yatra, Mountaineering and trekking

General Hindi (14 marks)

The Hindi syllabus is based on NCERT 10th and 12th.

• Language and script – devangari script development, merits /demerits and regional dialects like Kumaoni, Garhwali and Jaunsari
• Grammar – Word structure and sentence correction
• Vocabulary– Tatsam, Tadbhav, Deshaj, Agat words; synonyms and antonyms
• Literature– know specific poets like kabir, Sur, Tulsidas, Nirala and prose writers (Premchand, Mahadevi varma, shailesh matiyani)
• Computing– Hindi fonts, typing and page layouts

Reasoning (8 marks)

• Non verbal– mirror and water images, paper folding or cutting and figure matrix
• Verbal – alphabet test, coding decoding, blood relation, syllogism, Input- output password (computer related)

Fundamental of Computer (F.O.C) (8 marks )

It includes 5 technical units:

• Unit 1 – basic concepts, hardware software classification and generation of programming language
• Unit 2 – operating system including windows and basic of Linux
• Unit 3 – software packages for word processing spreadsheet and presentation
• Unit 4 – Internet basics, email management and social impact of ICT
• Unit 5 – Cyber Security and Indian IT ACT

General History (8 marks)

• Ancient India – Indus valley civilization, Vedic culture, Buddhism/Jainism, mauryan and Gupta empires
• Medieval India – The Delhi sultanate, bhakti and Sufi movement and Mughal administration
• Modern India – British East India expansion, Revolt of 1857, rise of nationalism and government of India act 1935
• World History – The Renaissance, French and Russian revolution and cause of World war

Geography (8 marks )

• World Geography – solar system, Earth movement, layer of atmosphere and hydrosphere
• Geography of India – relief, climate rainy system and environmental crisis such as air and water pollution

Political Science (8 marks)

• National movement – socio religious Renaissance, non cooperation, civil obedience and Gandhism
• Indian Polity – salient features of constitution, fundamental rights and duties, panchayati Raj act of Uttarakhand and Right to Information act 2005
• International – United Nations Organization (UNO), SAARC and global environment issues

Economics (8 marks)

• Indian economy – demographics trends, agriculture reforms, food security and role of MSMEs
• Policies – NITI Aayog, New economic policy, poverty alleviation programme and World Trade organisation (WTO)

Current Affairs (8 marks )

Includes State, national and international events includes space event, scientific discoveries, awards and sports
